Environmental sustainability consists of three distinct elements:
design, operation and reclamation. In operating the Muskeg River Mine,
Albian Sands manages each of these elements using the best practices
available. We achieve this through direct involvement with stakeholders and a commitment to continuous environmental improvement.
We recognize that, due to the project size and the
energy intensity of the oil sands process, greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions need to be carefully managed. For this reason the Athabasca
Oil Sands Project has developed a Climate Change
Management Plan with
continuous improvement goals for the entire project.
